Hey everyone, Today was a very exciting day! I left my house at 11:00 pm and my mom and little sister drove with me through the night to theRegina airport. We arrived at the airport at around 4:30 am to board my first plane EVER!!! Being as this was my first flight and I had to fly alone was a little scary but some other girls fromSaskatchewanwere there to help me out as well. The flight was really good actually and we landed inToronto at about 11:15am(Toronto time). I met up with some more Saskatchewan girls and we took a shuttle bus to the Westin Hotel. Once we arrived in our rooms we were aloud to unpack and meet our room mates. My room mate is Chloe Fulton from Alberta!

Chasing Perfection, Chasing Dreams…

In Chasing Perfection, Chasing Dreams… the breathtaking and heart pounding reality T.V. show takes viewers into the world of gymnastics as Dakota Cooke takes you on thrilling trips to all corners of the world to meet and work with past Olympic medalist gymnasts! Dakota will visit the champions’ gyms to tour and spend one week training with each champion on a specific skill or element.

Nastia Liukin!

Not only will Chasing Perfection, Chasing Dreams… focus on the hard working, coordinated and incredibly strong gymnasts, it will also show the heart, determination, strive and love for the sport that each gymnast has to obtain to succeed! The hour long show will run once weekly and outline the week spent in each destination with each special guest! And the best part yet… Dakota’s co-host is none other than the 2008 All Around Olympic Champion Nastia Liukin!!! Nastia will be joining the team and traveling around the world as well.

The Meaning Behind “Chasing Perfection, Chasing Dreams…”

The meaning behind our title “Chasing Perfection, Chasing Dreams…” is that reaching perfection in gymnastics is only worthwhile if you are following your dreams. Gymnastics is judged based on perfection of a skill. If you don’t point your toe: deduction. If your leg is slightly bent: deduction. So this is what explains the “Chasing Perfection” portion. And the second portion is just chasing your dreams and never giving up on them!

The goal of Chasing Perfection, Chasing Dreams… is to show the real world of gymnastics. When some people see gymnastics, they think it’s only a bunch of little girls dancing around in little pink leotards. But when in reality, gymnasts spend hours in the gym each week and even each day. They endure pains from ripped calluses to broken bones. They require so much focus to direst every movement and always make sure your toes are pointed! So with this show we would like to show how a gymnast’s life is, the good and the bad.

The show will reach all generations and all types of people as the show plays worldwide every week. The amazing skills and the stubborn determination of the incredible gymnasts will attract all eyes to the screen!

The sponsors for Chasing Perfection, Chasing Dreams… are Goody and Richard Sibbald Photography!

We are so happy to have Goody as one of our sponsors! Goody was chosen as a sponsor because their hair products are used throughout our journey. Gymnasts must have hair pulled back and with Goody hair supplies, of course!

Richard Sibbald Photography

We are equally as glad for having Richard Sibbald as our photographer for the show. Richard will be capturing the magical moments of action during the trip and his shots will be played during the credits at the end of each episode!

I hope you enjoy my show!

That is the summary of my dream T.V. show! I hope you all would enjoy and tune in to it! Thank you for all your support so far! Less than a week left 🙂

xoxo Dakota

Hey there everyone,
I just wanted to make a post about the lovely animals at my ranch and how growing up in the country has been so incredible for me!

The little sweetheart, Montana!

At our home we have quite a few animals! 10 horses, about 25 cows/calves and 4 bulls, 5 dogs, 14 cats (with some new kittens!), a pony and our fish! It’s actually kind of hard listing out all those; I didn’t realize we had so many!

Our very energetic girl, Mina!

I love spending time outside with all of our animals, playing with them and training them. Owning animals has really taught me responsibility and commitment.

My red angus cow Mandy!

Because when caring for animals you can’t decide not to go out and feed them or not clean their pens. You have to be willing and passionate about what you are doing and truly love the animals you are working with!

Oliver is one of our many cats!

So I live on a ranch, half an hour from towns with 100 people in them, hours from cities, with no satellite and slow internet.

Aria is the newest addition to our family!

And most people would think of that as a bad thing (I know sometimes I sure did!) but living out in the middle of nowhere has really been the best thing I could wish for!

Buddy (left), Rosabelle (center) and Beauty (right)!

Sure I don’t live close to towns, but I have a close-knit family of neighbors I’ve known since I was born!

Our hansome boy, Zoro!

Sure I don’t have the best T.V. or internet connections, but why would I need to watch T.V. or stare at a computer screen with the amazing adventures I could have in the wilderness beyond my door! So sure I might not be a city babe, but I sure am proud to be COUNTRY!
I love all my animals out here on the ranch! And I love being a country girl!

Our old dog T!

Hey everyone! As a part of blogging I have been asked to do a blog post about my dream vacation for one of Miss Teen Canada-World’s official sponsors, the travel company S-Trip! They will be awarding the lucky girl who wins the Social Media Queen award a trip! So here is mine!

A Kangaroo Leap Into The Outback!

Who would like to see a kangaroo?!

My dream vacation would be a long distance horseback ride across the breathtaking Australian Outback!

Inspiring this trip is the amazing Joe Guy (horse trainer, actor, author, motivational speaker, singer and songwriter). I met Joe last year at a local fair where he was demonstrating his colt breaking skills and technique. After his clinic I had an opportunity to chat with Joe and also purchased his book and DVD as well as a very useful bridle he designed himself.

Joe working his magic!

After reading Joe’s book and watching his DVD in a matter of days, I had found that Joe had ridden thousands of kilometers over the Outback of Australia (where he is originally from)! Learning many useful facts and lifelong lessons during the journey, Joe inspired me to take on the challenge of an incredible trip like this, one day!

I would take my sister, Madison and my best friend Mattea on this trip with me. With us all being “horse people” I figured this would be a great ride to take as we have spent many hours riding together before. And we could end our trip by spending some time at the beach in Sydney of course!

Mattea (left) and Madison (right)!

Having Joe Guy as our tour guide would be even more exciting!!! Or even if we saw him during our trip, haha!

I think Mattea and Madison would most enjoy the riding during the trip and the change of scenery. It would be quite a transition from south west Saskatchewan’s native prairie grasslands and rolling hills to the dry deserts and towering sand dunes of Australia’s Outback. I hope they would enjoy the simplicity of it all with just enough

Madison and I out for a ride!

supplies to survive, slowly making our way across the land. I wish they would forget their worries and live in the moment to fully embrace the trip and all it has to offer.

It would be great to travel with all my friends, of course! Although for this trip I may have to alter it a bit, seeing as some of my friends couldn’t stay on a horse if their life depended on it! But the different culture and landscape would definitely be enjoyed by all!

This would be my dream vacation sponsored by the outstanding travel company, S-Trip!

S-Trip! takes student travellers on unforgettable adventures around the world. Celebrate the exciting conclusion of high school in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica or Bahamas with all your friends on Grad Trip. Spend a weekend skiing or snowboarding at one of Canada’s premier mountain resorts on Ski Trip. Experience culture, sightseeing and events in Montreal or Quebec City on Busaway. Make a difference in an underdeveloped country on an impactful student Volunteer Trip. Explore the culture and history of Europe on Euro Adventure. For more information visit www.s-trip.com.

Check out S-Trip’s official website to find out more about the company!- www.s-trip.com

Also check out the man behind the inspiration!- www.joeguylongrider.com

Thanks for reading my blog post and stay tuned! Toronto is coming up fast!! Only 8 days! See you soon,

xoxo Dakota

On May 25th, 2012 I had my first fundraiser for Free The Children! I held a bottle drive in Hazlet and had some friends help me pick up bottles around town. We started after school and went until about 7:00. It was a quite successful bottle drive for being in such a small community but small communities take great pride in helping out their youth! I’d like to thank my friends that helped me out, my parents for helping and all who donated their bottles, cans, etc. It was a great experience! Here are some pictures from the night!

To start out I would just like to say that this was one of the best weekends I have ever had and I met 12 other beautiful, talented and amazing young ladies! It was an experience I’ll never forget!

The Miss Teen Saskatchewan Regional Pageant was held at the Radisson hotel in Saskatoonon Saturday, March 24th and Sunday, March 25th, 2012. My parents picked my sisters and I up at our school on Friday afternoon so we could be there to get settled in to our room and get a good night’s sleep before the big day ahead. We arrived inSaskatoon in the lightly falling snow and made our way through the city to the beautiful Raddison Hotel. When I walked into the hotel it was so gorgeous and elegant, like a real princess’ castle! I knew that this was going to be a great experience! Since I was pretty tired, the only thing I did that night was head up to my room for some rest.

Saturday Morning! Ready to head downstairs!

Saturday morning I woke up bright and early to get ready for the big day ahead! I got dressed, styled my hair, did my make up and of course ate breakfast (the most important meal of the day)! Then I headed down to registration at00:00am. After registration my Mom had to go and I was on my own for the day! I entered the room and was one of the first girls in there. I sat down with my suitcase that had my clothes and shoes in it and waited as all the other girls entered the room. As each one entered we all introduced ourselves to each other and by the time everyone had entered it felt like we had known each other forever! After we had chatted for a few minutes, Michelle came to talk to us about the next few days and what we would be doing. Next, she introduced us to our choreographer, Shawn Cuffie, and he took us from there. Shawn first taught us how to stand correctly and walk correctly in our heels. About half way through the day we started learning our opening number for the show! Being a dancer myself, it was pretty exciting to learn and perform! Next, Shawn taught us how to sit properly and helped us with some public speaking skills for the interview segment and our platforms. We were served a delicious lunch and were back at it within an hour! Shawn helped us through our walks for the swimsuit and evening gown numbers which was very exciting! At about3:00last year’s titleholders were arriving at the hotel and sat down with us for a quick Q&A which helped a lot during the pageant the following night! More rehearsals then our preliminary swimsuit competition. After the swimsuits, we had to start getting ready for the interview segment. Once we had all finished our interviews, we were let go for the day! I was the second to do my interview and it went really great! After I had taken all my things back up to the room, we had a delicious dinner then hit the hay because another amazing day was waiting for me right around the corner!

On Sunday morning, everyone received a “not so pleasant” wake up call, as the fire alarms were going off all over the hotel! The loud screeching woke me up at around 4:30amand my sister hollered at me to get out of bed because the fire alarms were going off! And to our convenience we happened to be on the 12th floor, so we went down 12 flights of stairs to the lobby where we waited for about 45 minutes. It turns out the fire wasn’t serious so we could all go back up to our rooms! I was just so glad I had all my family safe and sound with me the whole time! What a morning that was!

Opening Number!

We all went upstairs on Sunday where we saw the stage for the first time and backstage where we would change between numbers. I was so excited for the show but nervous at the same time! All the girls were really supportive of me and I was to them as well! Shawn then taught us the rest of the choreography for the opening number and we finished early! The first province to so far!!! Congrats girls! Soon enough the hair and makeup artists arrived at the hotel and we each patiently waited for our chance to have our hair styled so beautifully by the incredibly, talented hairstylists. Once we were all finished with hair and makeup we had our dress rehearsal and the show nearing. We were all getting a little nervous but so excited to show our stuff to our friends and family, as well as the judges, who were all there to support us! The show began and it ran so smoothly!

When it came to the crowning portion I began to get a little nervous! As we all anxiously awaited the results of the judging, Michelle stepped forward to announce that…we would all be eligible to attend the national Miss Teen Canada-World pageant inTorontothis summer!!! Because of our high scores we were all eligible to participate in the national pageant!

Crowning Moment!

I was so shocked and excited! So many emotions going through my body and as they called my name to give me my crown and bouquet! I stood there as they called each girls name, a smile of pure happiness plastered across my face! And finally they called the Miss Teen Saskatchewan-World 2012 which was awarded to Savanagh Walker! Savanagh totally deserves her title and I wish her all the best! After we had all been crowned we stood for what seemed like hours having pictures taken of us for all who attended. My family was there waiting proudly to give me hugs and congratulations! I wouldn’t have been able to do this without them and I thank them so much for everything they have done for me! Family really is everything!

A picture with my family after the show!

Well this is my summary of my provincial pageant experience and you can definitely look forward to a national pageant experience summary after the Miss Teen Canada-World pageant inTorontothis summer! Thank you all for your support!

Xoxo, Dakota
